A misconception about introverts is that they look like the kind of people who do not enjoy life very well, live their life thinking about depressing things. But the reality, introverts just have a different way of enjoying life from extroverts. Here are some of the things that only introverts understand and will be happy about, that extroverts should learn about as well, so as to stop misunderstanding them.

1. An empty place to do whatever you want.

Introverts would die for to be in an empty place at any time, and by empty it means a place where there is no one else at all, not exactly an empty room. Being in an empty place is a blank canvas for introverts, they get to explore their creativity and do the things they like without being in the eyes of the public. Aside from that, an empty place means a quiet world for the introverts to sink into their own world and play their thoughts silently.

2. A plan-less weekend.

Extroverts love having plans and going out with a bunch of people when the weekend comes. Being the opposite of that, introverts love having no plans and staying in, even if it takes up the whole weekend. As introverts have to meet people during the weekdays, regardless of being in school or working, the weekend is their only time where they can get away from people and do whatever they want.

3. Communication through writing instead of talking.

Introverts can be great at conversations or presentations, some are even better than extroverts at it. But most of the time, introverts do prefer writing, such as emails or text messages, over-talking, such as phone calls. This is because introverts despise small talks and go in distance to avoid it. Unless an introvert is passionate about what they want to talk about, or else they would pretty much prefer to communicate through writing at any time.

4. Deep meaningful talks.

As mentioned in the point above, introverts despite small talks. They are not interested in meaningless talks or gossips. They want to talk about things that mean to them, things that go deep into their heart, or even things that will benefit them. To them, things like gossiping are a waste of time and energy, so they’d prefer to use the energy for things that are meaningful to them.

5. The free time to create thoughts in our heads.

Introverts live in their heads more often than in their real lives. They crave free and quiet time so that they can dive deep into the thoughts they have in their head and explore their creativity. Although on the outside they may seem like they are daydreaming out of boredom, in actual what is happening in their head is even more than they say. But this could lead to one problem, overthinking.

6. Not needing to give opinions, just listen.

As compared to extroverts, introverts are great at listening. They excel in receiving information from others and then process them well in their head and think of solutions or replies. During a meeting, introverts would love if they are not forced to provide an idea, but rather hearing what everyone has to say and improve on the ideas given by others. This makes them a good leader in the sense that they are not bossy and are willing to hear what everyone wants to say.

7. When an event ends.

When an introvert is invited to an event, they might not reject it, probably they do not want to sound rude. They will also attend the event, as they had made the promise, but the only thing they really have in mind is when the event ends. By the time it ends they do not have to talk to anyone, listen to the noise or mingle in the crowd, and just return to their house to be quiet and all by themselves.

8. A quiet place.

Although not all introverts are easily distracted, there are a number of them who are, especially the distraction of noise. Introverts are able to be stuck in their head with all the thinking, but with lots of noises, they are still unable to dive into their thoughts. In fact, being in a loud place might even be stressful for an introvert due to their stress triggers, which is the opposite of extroverts. This is why many introverts are seen only in quiet places so that they can be free to stress.

9. When people respect that we need to be by ourselves.

There are extroverts out there who still don’t understand why introverts need to be alone at times. In fact, they might even think that it is weird that how can a human want to be by themselves, as humans are meant to socialize. But then there are also nice extroverts who totally understand and respect introverts and give them the quiet time they need when they asked for it. Those are the people whom the introverts call genuinely like.

10. Getting to know another introvert.

Despite people saying the population of introverts are lesser than extroverts, the actual ratio is still 1:1. The only reason why it seems like there are so few introverts out there is that not many introverts like to be out to the public, which also explains why it is so difficult for introverts to get in contact with another introvert. But when they do, it is the best thing that can happen to an introvert. It’s like meeting a soulmate to them.

These are the things that make introverts happy. To extroverts, they seem weird and have strange perceptions towards things as compared to them. But if everyone learns to accept each other’s differences, then no one would seem weird to anyone anymore.
