To be more organised in our life is not just keeping our house tidy or making sure we place the book back on the bookshelf after reading it. It is also keeping our tasks, relationships, and health in check so our lives would not go off track. We are all so busy in our daily lives that we often neglect to do some organisation in our lives, which is a pretty important aspect of our life. Here are some ways you can do to make your life organisation easier for good.

1. Colour code.

For all those important papers and documents that we should keep safe but aren’t, here’s a way to keep them organised: colour coding them. By colour coding important documents, you can make less clutter out of it, and it will be easier for you to look back at them in the future. Aside from important papers, there are many things that you can colour code as well, such as your pantry, your closet, all of your storage area.

2. Create tasks that are manageable.

Organisation is tough when the things on your to-do lists are too advance and difficult. This often leads to procrastination. This is perhaps the reason why many people always have tasks in their planner that takes forever to be done. A way to prevent procrastination is simply creating tasks that are manageable for you. Try breaking down a huge task into smaller, more manageable tasks. You’ll be more motivated to get into work if your tasks are of your level.

3. Plan ahead.

There are many things in life that you cannot plan, of course, but for mundane things, such as your outfit, your meals and things that you have to go through every day, these are the things that you can plan ahead so that they do not drag too much of your time throughout the day. Just take a day in the week, most people choose Sunday, to do all your planning, such as your outfits for the week, or meal prepping, or even tasks that you need to do within the week. With a planned schedule, everything will be organised for you and you will have fewer things to be worried about.

4. Record things on your phone when outside.

Often times when we think of something that we have to do, say you promised to go out for a lunch with your friend, and you thought you would remember it, but until the day comes you totally forgot about it. This happens especially when we are out because we have things to do all day and we simply cannot remember everything. This is why we have to make use of the things we bring around with us. If you have something you need to write down, use your phone to record things down so that you would have it written down and be reminded of.

5. Keep important documents in files.

Don’t we all have a pile of papers somewhere in the corner of our house, which we don’t even know which is important and which not? To make your life more organised, simply just file up the papers you need and are important, and recycle or throw out those that you don’t need, simple as that! Not only can this help to reduce the clutter in your house, but it’s also easier for you to find the document for times when you need it.

6. Back up your phone.

As our phones store at least 50 per cent of our lives, such as your photos, the phone numbers, and even some of your important information, it is wise to back up your phone often, so that any information will still be saved. You’ll never know what would happen to your phone and that the information you need on it would be gone forever. Try to back up your phone more often, perhaps once every month, so that for whatever reason your phone failed to work, you still have your important information on it.

7. Meal prep.

Food nowadays had increased so much in price as compared to the past. As students and even employees, we certainly do not want to spend too much on food. We could cook ourselves, but with our busy schedule, we often couldn’t find time to cook every single day! But, a way to solve this is to meal prep. All you need is a day at your weekend, preferably Sundays, and prepare your meal for the rest of the week. This way you only need to waste the time cooking for one day, and plus, buying food in bulk is often cheaper than buying them in minimal every day. Another good thing about meal prep is that they are often healthier than eating out.

8. Write down your passwords in a notebook.

We all have passwords for so many things, passwords for our emails, accounts, credit cards, and we are just humans, most of the time we cannot even remember what we had for breakfast, let alone all the passwords. As dorky as this sounds, writing down all your passwords in a notebook can help you tons. It doesn’t even need to be a fancy one, just a small simple one would do. Having one place where you keep all the important information can make your life so organised and simpler. Plus, you can also keep lots of other information in there, such as phone numbers, address of places and so on.

9. Let go of things.

Having too much clutter is the enemy of being organised. Not only will your workspace appear too messy for you to work on, but even your mind will also be a mess, to begin with. Sometimes, just cleaning out your house, let go of the things that no longer bring you benefits, and just declutter your house, is a great way to stay on track of life and be more organised. Having a clean space is also known to cause you less depression as your mind is easily influenced by what is in sight.

10. Stay motivated.

Nothing makes organising easier than having the motivation to do so. Well, not just in terms of organisation, but everything in your life, basically. Whatever you do, regardless of things you love or things you have to do for a living, if you lack motivation, it is difficult for you to move forward on it, thus would wreck up your whole planning for your life. Of course, it is not easy to find the motivation to do certain things, such as your day job and all, but try to envision how your future would be if you had earned enough money from working, and how you can travel and enjoy life. Think things in a bigger picture.

So stay organised is of course not a necessity to be successful in life. In fact, sometimes successful people can be living in a messy house as well! The most important part is for you to plan your life out so that you have a rough idea of what you are working for, and not just blindly doing things for the sake of being alive. Whatever organisation method you use, just ensure that they are helping you along your way in life.
