Running is one of the best exercises there is, regardless of what your health goals are. Besides, it is also one of the most versatile exercises, as it can be done outdoors (at the park, on the streets, around your neighbourhood) and indoors (treadmills, jogging-in-place). There are so many reasons one should try to run every day as not only would it benefit your physical health, it also does wonders to your mental health. Here are some of the reasons why you should run every day, even if it’s just got 15 minutes.

1. Lose fat.

This is of course the top reason why you should run every day. Running is excellent for burning fat. Plus, as compared to other kinds of cardio exercises, running is the one that requires the least maintenance and expense. All you need is a pair of running shoes and a route or a treadmill and you are ready to get on your journey.

2. Refresh your mind.

Running might seem like something that will increase one’s stress levels because some people think that if you run, you are tiring your body out, and thus making your body even more stressed out. But the truth is, running is actually very helpful to get your mind to relax. Most of the time when you run, your brain will divert your focus onto your running instead of your problems.

3. Release stress.

As mentioned in the point above, your head will be clear of thoughts when you are running, and this includes whatever stress you had in your mind previously. This explains why many runners will have a change in mood after going for a run. This is why here’s another reason to run: to keep your stress levels at bay.

4. Better sleep.

Though your mood will alleviate after you go for a run, but that doesn’t mean your body is still full of energy. Giving your body time to rest after a run is the best way to treat your body. If you are someone who has difficulties sleeping at night, try going for a run every day. In time, you’ll be able to have better sleeps and feel less tired throughout the day.

5. Build endurance.

To build endurance is not just for a marathon in a month, or to get toned for a short term, but it is something you maintain for a lifetime. Sure, you do not want to breathe heavily every time you walk up the stairs or walking from one place to another. Plus, the human body is excellent at adapting to new things. With consistency and patience, your body will start to get stronger before you even realize it.

6. Reduce the risk of diseases.

Studies have shown that while running (and exercising in general) your body will generate new and healthier cells that are capable of battling the bad cells in our body, and thus this will reduce the rate of diseases that we might get. Besides generating new cells, running also strengthens our immune system, which is the key to prevent any diseases.

7. Improves metabolism.

Do you ever get jealous when some of your friends can eat whatever they want and still remain skinny? This might be because they have a high metabolism. Some people thought that if you’re born with a slow metabolism, you are doomed to be chubby forever. But, you can actually improve your metabolism. One of the ways is just to run or exercise in general. Exercising is the most effective way for you to improve your metabolism.

8. Stronger bones.

Running is a “killing two birds with one stone” sort of thing. It will help you burn fat, and simultaneously strengthen your bones. That’s why you might not lose weight, in fact, you might even gain weight, but do not be feared by the sound of it. It is probably because you are gaining muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat. Though you might not see it physically, you will feel that you are stronger definitely.

So here are a few reasons why you should run on a daily basis. It is not simply for you to lose fat, or just to improve your metabolism, but running has more benefits than you think. In the future, if you lack the motivation to run again, just think about all the good difference you will feel in your body!
